WHERE QUALITY MEETS EXPERIENCE

Gorenje partnered with Studio Volpi to review two key appliances, a new dishwasher platform and a steam oven range already in production with one clear priority: protecting quality and elevating the user experience.

The result was not a theoretical assessment: the recommendations were translated into concrete improvements, rapidly implemented by the client across details, interfaces and critical touchpoints. A shared goal guided every step: products that feel more reliable, intuitive and premium in everyday use.

ONE APPROACH, TWO PRODUCTS

Studio Volpi worked with a cross-functional team: technical, aesthetic, UX and design to turn real observations into actionable design direction, ensuring consistency between what the product promises and what people actually experience.

FROM FIRST CONTACT TO REAL-WORLD USE

The analysis started where the experience really begins, before the product is even turned on. For the dishwasher, the work covered the full journey: packaging and unboxing, installation and set-up, manual clarity, and the overall interaction flow, including the digital layer.

For the steam ovens, we examined representative models through an end-to-end lens: perceived quality, usability and behaviour in real scenarios, aligning the product experience with the expectations of its segment.

PERCEIVED QUALITY: DETAILS THAT DEFINE PREMIUM

On the dishwasher, attention went to the consistency of visible and hidden details: how components feel, how mechanisms sound, and how stable and “finished” each part appears when handled.

On the ovens, the same lens applied to key touchpoints such as handle, knobs and surfaces, elements that immediately communicate value (or weaken it) before the first interaction even starts.

SAFETY & INSTALLATION: DESIGN THAT PROTECTS

Quality is also measured by what users don’t see and what installers shouldn’t have to worry about. For the dishwasher, the review highlighted safety-critical construction details that could create risk during installation, translating them into clear corrective actions.

For the ovens, the focus extended to installability in real kitchen contexts and markets, identifying constraints that could compromise fit and ease of integration and turning them into recommendations that protect the experience from day one.

CLARITY & INTERACTION: MAKING USE INTUITIVE

When interaction is clear, users feel in control — and the product feels smarter. On the dishwasher, clarity was strengthened by defining coherent visual signals across touch areas and improving the legibility of actions and components.

On the ovens, we addressed the complexity of the interface by working on hierarchy, consistency between controls and touch elements, and the overall readability of the system so that functions feel accessible, not overwhelming.

PERFORMANCE & RELIABILITY: TESTING

On the steam ovens, real use scenarios helped surface issues tied to performance under stress conditions and to the robustness of components, revealing what needs reinforcement when temperature, time and repeated cycles raise the stakes.

In parallel, the dishwasher analysis supported reliability by examining how construction choices, mechanisms and component logic affect durability and confidence in everyday use.

OUTPUT & IMPACT: A REPORT THAT MOVES DECISIONS

Studio Volpi consolidated insights into a structured report, visual, clear and immediately actionable, combining observations, evidence and design recommendations.

The impact was concrete: Gorenje responded quickly, transforming the feedback into improvements and prototypes, proving a shared belief that product quality is not only engineered, it is also designed, communicated, and experienced.
